Formation of the Gay Officers Action League of New England (GOAL-NE)
Londonderry, New Hampshire — [05 May 2026] — A new chapter in LGBTQ+ law enforcement advocacy is underway as Sgt. Aaron Cavanaugh formally announces the formation of Gay Officers Action League of New England (GOAL-NE) a 501(c)3– as the successor to the now-defunct and long dormant New England Gay Officers Action League.
After six years of dormancy, Sgt. Aaron Cavanaugh has been named Trustee of New England Gay Officers Action League, with the support and cooperation of former President Anthony Fowler, to oversee the transfer of any remaining assets and IP to GOAL-NE, as the sole successor organization. This new organization will be structured, branded, and positioned differently to better serve its mission across the New England region, whilst continuing the core original mission of New England Gay Officers Action League.
Sgt. Cavanaugh will serve as President of GOAL-NE, bringing a renewed vision focused on advocacy, professional development, and community engagement for LGBTQ+ law enforcement professionals and allies.
“This organization transition is an entirely new successor able to expand further than before, and it is a commitment to rebuilding and strengthening a vital network for LGBTQ+ officers across New England,” said Sgt. Cavanaugh. “We are grateful to Anthony Fowler for his past leadership and cooperation in ensuring a smooth transition, and we look forward to reestablishing the strong and active voice and links in both the law enforcement and LGBTQ+ communities.”
The Gay Officers Action League of New England aims to:
• Support LGBTQ+ individuals in law enforcement and criminal justice careers
• Foster inclusive and equitable workplace environments
• Provide training, mentorship, and networking opportunities
• Strengthen relationships between law enforcement and LGBTQ+ communities
Over the coming months, GOAL-NE will begin outreach efforts, membership enrollment, and the development of new programming initiatives throughout the region.
